Hey friend,
Let’s be real — mornings as a mom can feel like running a mini-marathon before 9 AM, right? Between packing lunches, getting the kids dressed, and trying to squeeze in a moment for yourself, it’s a lot.
But I’ve learned over the years (especially after raising three kids and juggling school mornings!) that a few small changes in the morning can really shift the entire day. So today, I’m sharing five simple morning routines that have helped me stay sane — and even feel a little more energized.
1. Wake Up Before the Kids (Even Just 15 Minutes!)
I know, I know — sleep is precious. But I promise, even waking up just 15 minutes before the chaos starts gives you a head start. I use this time to stretch, sip warm lemon water or tea, and just breathe before the day begins.
It’s like giving yourself a calm “hello” before the world barges in with tiny footsteps and cereal spills.
2. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job
The first thing I do (before coffee!) is drink a full glass of water. Overnight, our bodies get dehydrated, and starting with water really helps with brain fog and sluggishness.
Sometimes I add a slice of lemon or a pinch of pink salt. It makes me feel like I’m at a spa… even if I’m standing in a messy kitchen.
3. Move a Little — Even If It’s Just 5 Minutes
Don’t worry — I’m not talking about a full workout. Sometimes I just do a quick stretch or a few deep breaths while standing at the sink. Other mornings, I sneak in a short walk or a dance party with the kids (bonus points if it tires them out!).
Moving your body first thing wakes you up from the inside out.
4. Write a Quick To-Do List (Keep It Real)
I grab a notepad and jot down 3-5 realistic goals for the day. Not the Pinterest-perfect kind — just what I actually need to get done. It helps keep my mind clear and stops the “what-am-I-forgetting” anxiety.
And yes, sometimes “drink coffee while it’s still hot” is on that list 😄
5. Start with Something You Enjoy
This one’s so important. Mornings don’t always have to feel like survival mode. I like listening to a short podcast, reading a devotional, or playing calming music while making breakfast. It sets a peaceful tone for everyone.
Give yourself permission to enjoy something small — you deserve it.
Final Thoughts ❤️
If your mornings feel messy, that’s okay. Mine still do — but these little routines have made a big difference in how I feel. Start with just one and build from there.
Remember, being a mom is a full-time job — you’re doing amazing. And if no one has told you today: I see you, and I’m cheering you on.
